Victor Mthethwa Majola, 44, will remain behind bars after the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court denied him bail on Monday, 26 January 2026. Majola is accused of orchestrating the murder of Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock, a well-known DJ, radio personality and businessman.
Majola faces charges including premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder. He was arrested on 22 December 2025.
What the Court Said About the Evidence
In her ruling, Magistrate Annalise Tlhapi said the evidence against Majola was “overwhelming” and that releasing him could jeopardise the criminal investigation.
The court also raised practical red flags about his bail case. The magistrate found that Majola did not have a fixed address and had submitted two conflicting addresses. She also said video footage presented in support of his bail application was unclear and unreliable, noting it appeared blurry, blacked out and potentially edited. The court further highlighted that his alibi was not tested in court.
The Killing that Sparked the Case
Stock was shot dead in Johannesburg’s CBD on 16 December 2025. Reports from the bail hearing described it as a hit-style killing, with Stock gunned down outside a building near the Carlton Centre, with another account placing the shooting outside the Zambesi Building.
The State alleges the killing was planned. Stock was also linked to a VIP protection business and the shooting was described in court as potentially connected to security work involving hijacked buildings.
The matter has been postponed to 11 February 2026 for further investigations.
