Police in the Western Cape are searching for suspects after three people were shot and killed in a Gugulethu home on Monday night.
The incident happened around 8:22 pm in Nontulo Street, New Cross. Officers responded to reports of gunfire and made a grim discovery at the scene.
Victims found inside and outside home
According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut, two victims, a man and a woman, were found inside the house. Both had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body.
“A third male victim was found outside the premises with a gunshot wound to the back of his head,” Traut said.
The two male victims were aged 33 and 46. The identity and age of the female victim have not been disclosed.
Motive still unclear
Police have not yet determined the motive behind the attack. Authorities say the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
The case has now been handed over to the Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit, which is tasked with handling high-priority cases.
“Detectives have been assigned to the case and will pursue all available leads with urgency and diligence,” Traut said, adding that officers are committed to bringing those responsible to justice.
Police call for public assistance
Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The triple murder has raised concerns about violent crime in the area, with police intensifying efforts to track down the suspects and prevent further incidents.
