Hyundai has refreshed its Creta line-up for South Africa, with the compact SUV returning with updated styling, more features and a new performance-inspired N Line derivative.

The latest version is based on the facelifted second-generation Creta and is imported from Indonesia.

Pricing starts at R434,900 for the Premium model, while the N Line tops the range at R569,900.

Creta gets a major visual update

The revised Creta has been given a more modern look, including redesigned front-end elements and full-width LED lighting.

Inside, Hyundai has also updated the cabin with new materials and added technology.

The Premium model rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and comes with keyless entry and start, automatic headlights and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with USB charging ports.

Safety equipment includes multiple airbags, stability control, hill-start assist, front parking sensors and a reverse camera.

Two engines available locally

The Premium uses a 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 84kW and 144Nm.

It sends power to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission, with Hyundai claiming fuel consumption of 6.3l/100km.

The N Line gets a stronger 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 117kW and 253Nm.

It is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and is also front-wheel drive.

N Line adds more equipment

The N Line receives several model-specific upgrades, including 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, roof rails and a satin-black grille.

Its cabin gains leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control and a Bose six-speaker sound system.

A 360-degree camera is also included.

Driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot detection, lane-departure warning, fatigue detection and pre-collision avoidance.

Both Creta derivatives are sold with a seven-year/200,000km warranty, four-year/60,000km service plan and seven-year/150,000km roadside assistance.
