Residents of Capricorn in Muizenberg are in shock after a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped. The incident has left families reeling and raised fresh fears about child safety in the area.

According to Muizenberg Community Policing Forum Media Liaison Officer Wayne Turner, a minor suspect was arrested and the matter is now before the court.

SAPS and CPF Condemn the Attack

Turner said the Muizenberg SAPS Station Commander and the Community Policing Forum expressed deep concern and strong condemnation over the alleged rape.

“The victim is receiving the necessary medical care and support services,” he stated.

The case is being handled by the SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit. Because both the victim and the suspect are minors, police have released no further details.

Investigation Under Way

SAPS confirmed the minor suspect was taken into custody and has appeared in court. Officers are continuing their probe and have asked anyone with information to come forward.

This is the second rape of a young child reported in the same community in a short space of time. Last month an 18-year-old was arrested for the alleged rape of a three-year-old girl in Capricorn.

Parents Urged to Stay Alert

Turner called on parents and caregivers to remain vigilant. “Report any suspected abuse immediately to the nearest police station,” he said.

Communities across the Western Cape are once again reminded that child protection remains everyone’s responsibility. Newsroom will continue to follow developments in this case.
