Volkswagen has officially opened pre-orders for the second-generation T-Roc in South Africa ahead of its local market launch in early September 2026.
The compact SUV sits between the Taigo and Tiguan in Volkswagen’s local SUV range, alongside the T-Cross, Tayron and Touareg.
Pricing has not yet been announced and Volkswagen says full local specifications will be revealed closer to launch.
Bigger body brings more space
The new T-Roc is 122mm longer than its predecessor, with its wheelbase growing by 28mm.
Volkswagen says the extra length creates more interior space, while luggage capacity has increased by 30 litres to 475 litres with the rear seats upright.
The exterior also gets a wider stance, redesigned lighting and the distinctive silver trim line running from the A-pillar towards the rear.
Higher-spec versions can be equipped with Volkswagen’s IQ.Light LED Matrix headlights and illuminated front and rear lighting elements.
110kW turbo engine confirmed
South African versions will use Volkswagen’s 1.4-litre turbocharged TSI petrol engine.
It produces 110kW and 250Nm of torque, with maximum torque available between 1,500rpm and 3,500rpm.
The engine is paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.
Cabin gets major technology upgrade
Volkswagen has given the T-Roc a more digital and premium interior.
A 10.3-inch infotainment system will be standard across the local range, together with a Digital Cockpit, wireless App-Connect and a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles.
Park Assist and a rear-view camera will also be standard.
Customers will be able to add the optional IQ.Drive package, which includes Front Assist with pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, Side Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Jam Assist and Emergency Assist.
Volkswagen says the new T-Roc will officially enter the South African market in early September, with customers now able to secure vehicles through the pre-order process.
