Volkswagen has announced South African pricing and specifications for the second-generation T-Roc ahead of its September 2026 launch.

The new range includes three derivatives: Life, R-Line, and R-Line Black Style.

Pricing starts at R599,900 for the T-Roc 1.4 TSI Life, while the R-Line costs R689,900. The flagship R-Line Black Style is priced at R709,900.

Three specification levels offered

The entry-level Life comes standard with a 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, digital instrumentation and 10-colour ambient lighting.

It also gets a rear-view camera, LED headlights, 16-inch Bilbao alloy wheels and black roof rails.

Moving up to the R-Line adds model-specific interior and exterior styling, IQ. Light LED matrix headlights and 18-inch Coventry alloy wheels.

It also includes Varenna leather sports comfort seats and a larger 12.9-inch infotainment display.

The R-Line Black Style adds several black exterior finishes, including the wing-mirror housings and alloy wheels, together with privacy glass.

One engine across the range

Unlike its predecessor, the new South African T-Roc range will be offered exclusively with Volkswagen’s 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine.

The four-cylinder unit produces 110kW and 250Nm.

Power is sent to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The previous-generation range could also be ordered with a 140kW and 320Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged engine paired with Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system.

New T-Roc grows in size

The new T-Roc uses Volkswagen’s MQB evo platform and is larger than the model it replaces.

It measures 4,373mm long and 1,828mm wide, making it 122mm longer and 9mm wider than the first-generation T-Roc.

Its wheelbase has increased by 28mm to 2,631mm.

Volkswagen says the larger dimensions have created more interior space.

Boot capacity has also increased by 30 litres to 475 litres.

The second-generation VW T-Roc is scheduled to reach South African showrooms in September 2026.
