Newsroom has officially launched Wordl, a new daily word game that challenges players to guess a five-letter word in six tries.
Inspired by the appeal of daily puzzles, Wordl is intentionally minimalist. There are no accounts to create, no ads interrupting play and no distractions. Each day presents one carefully selected word, shared by everyone, resetting at midnight.
After each guess, tiles change colour to indicate how close a player is to the correct word. Blue tiles signal the right letter in the right place, yellow shows the letter exists elsewhere in the word and grey means it is not part of the solution.
What sets Wordl apart is its local focus. The daily words are curated with South African language and usage in mind, giving the game a subtle but familiar twist while keeping it accessible to anyone who enjoys word puzzles.
The game is designed to be played quickly, whether on desktop or mobile and saves progress automatically for the day. Once solved, players can return the next day for a new challenge.
Wordl is part of Newsroom’s ongoing expansion into interactive content, offering readers more ways to engage beyond traditional news and articles.
