Nissan is offering discounts of up to R174 000 on selected Navara models as the locally built bakkie reaches the end of its production run.

The substantial reductions are intended to clear remaining stock of the current-generation Navara from dealerships across South Africa.

The affected vehicles were assembled at Nissan’s Rosslyn factory in Pretoria.

Buyers should note that discounts may differ between models, dealerships and available stock.

The offers will remain available only while participating dealers still have vehicles.

Rosslyn production comes to an end

The current Navara has been produced locally since 2021 after Nissan invested R3 billion to prepare its Rosslyn plant for the bakkie.

The factory produced single-cab and double-cab models for South Africa and other African markets.

However, low production volumes placed pressure on the long-term future of the facility.

The Navara became the only model built at the plant after production of the NP200 ended in March 2024.

Nissan later reached an agreement for Chery South Africa to acquire the Rosslyn facility.

Thai-built models coming

The discounted Rosslyn-built models will eventually be replaced by imported Navaras produced in Thailand.

The move means South African customers will continue to have access to the bakkie after local production ends.

Nissan has not confirmed every specification or price for the replacement range.

The company’s current Navara line-up includes single-cab and double-cab derivatives with two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive options.

Selected models use a 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine, while the most powerful versions produce up to 140kW and 450Nm.

Buyers urged to compare deals

Discounts of up to R174 000 could make the outgoing Navara more attractive to buyers looking for a workhorse or lifestyle bakkie.

However, customers should confirm the exact saving, specification and model year with their chosen dealership.

They should also check whether the advertised price includes registration, delivery fees, accessories and optional paint.

Nissan continues to provide sales, servicing and warranty support in South Africa.

The stock-clearing campaign marks the end of an important chapter for the Rosslyn-built Navara before the imported replacement range arrives.
