Renault is preparing to expand its Triber range in South Africa with a turbocharged version expected before the end of 2026.

The Citizen reports that the Triber Turbo is due to reach the local market before year-end, although Renault South Africa has not yet announced an exact launch date.

Renault South Africa’s official website currently lists only the naturally aspirated Triber range, with no local Turbo derivative published yet.

Current Triber range starts from R218,999

Renault South Africa currently offers the Triber in Evolution, Techno and Iconic derivatives.

Official pricing starts at R218,999 for the Triber 1.0 Evolution manual. The Techno manual is listed at R233,999, while the Iconic manual costs R249,999.

The top-spec Iconic AMT is priced at R259,999.

The current Triber uses a naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine producing 52kW and 96Nm.

Renault says the model can seat up to seven people, with removable third-row seats and up to 625 litres of luggage space in five-seat configuration.

Turbo model expected to bring more power

The Citizen reports that the upcoming Triber Turbo will use a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine.

The publication says the engine is expected to produce 74kW and 180Nm, paired with a five-speed manual transmission.

Renault South Africa has not yet published those Triber Turbo specifications on its official website, so the figures remain based on The Citizen’s report rather than a local manufacturer announcement.

Renault already offers turbo power locally

Renault South Africa already sells the Kiger Turbo with a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing up to 74kW and 160Nm.

The company launched the updated Kiger Turbo locally in March 2026, with prices starting at R278,999.

The Triber Turbo is expected to give Renault a more powerful option in its seven-seat range while retaining the model’s focus on space and family practicality.

Renault South Africa has not yet announced local pricing for the Triber Turbo.
