Two security company owners lost their lives in a violent ambush during an Ormonde cash robbery in Johannesburg. The incident occurred on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

Brazen Ambush Triggers High-Speed Chase
The attack began as a high-speed chase on the M1 highway. Suspects in multiple high-end vehicles forced the security convoy to stop on Crownwood Road in Ormonde, leading to a fierce shootout.
The two security bosses were killed in the exchange of fire. One security guard sustained serious injuries.
Suspects Also Suffer Casualties
During the shootout, one suspect was killed and another wounded. The remaining attackers fled the scene with bags of cash. No arrests have been made so far.
Police Launch Murder Investigation
Gauteng Police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder following the Ormonde cash robbery. Police confirmed they responded to the scene where two people were declared dead on arrival.
