A triple murder in Valhalla Park has left a Cape Town family devastated after a mother and her son were killed in a late-night shooting. Police say three people died after gunfire erupted on Saturday night in the area.

What Happened in Valhalla Park

The shooting happened late on Saturday at the corner of Paulus and Hester Street in Valhalla Park. According to police, a 41-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were shot and died at the scene.

An 18-year-old man was also shot, suffering gunshot wounds to his head and face. He was taken to a medical facility for treatment but later died on Sunday morning, becoming the third victim.

Police Investigation and Next Steps

Western Cape SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed Bishop Lavis detectives are investigating three counts of murder.

Police have not confirmed a motive for the shooting. No arrests have been made.

Community Reacts to “Senseless” Violence

Bishop Lavis Community Policing Forum chairperson Amanda Davids condemned the attack and offered condolences to the families. She said it is “unimaginable” for a family to lose both a mother and her son in such a brutal incident.

Davids also raised concern about mass killings, saying many victims are young and so are the perpetrators.
