Tickets for the 2026 World Cup final have gone on sale for nearly $2.3 million each on FIFA’s official resale marketplace. Four seats for the July 19 match at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey now carry a price tag of $2,299,998.85 apiece.

Buying all four would cost roughly $9.2 million. Other seats in the same lower-deck section behind the goal appear for as little as $16,098.

Sky-High Prices Emerge for 2026 World Cup Final Tickets

FIFA does not control the asking prices on its resale platform. The governing body simply takes a 15% fee from both seller and buyer. That means FIFA could earn nearly $690,000 from a single $2.3-million transaction.

The listings surfaced as the final phase of ticket sales opened this week. More than five million tickets for the entire tournament have already sold.

Criticism Grows Over High Prices for 2026 World Cup Final Tickets

Organisers have already drawn criticism for the cost of tickets across the Canada-Mexico-USA co-hosted event, which opens on 11 June 2026. Unlike earlier World Cups, resale prices on FIFA’s platform face no cap at face value.

In December FIFA released a small batch of $60 tickets to ease pressure on fans. Even so, the premium 2026 World Cup final tickets now dominate headlines.

FIFA Defends Its Ticketing Model

A FIFA spokesperson said the resale system follows “standard ticket market practices for major sporting and entertainment events across the host countries”.

The spokesperson added that fees match industry norms in North American sports and that variable pricing helps “optimise sales and attendance and ensure a fair market value for events”.
