Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court is set to hear a bail application linked to the murder of Warrick Robert Stock, the DJ and security consultant better known as DJ Warras.
Bail Bid Set for Tuesday
Victor Mthethwa Majola, 44, is due back in court on Tuesday, January 13, for a formal bail application. Majola was arrested last month and has made a second appearance in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court as the case moves forward.
Charges Linked to December Shooting
Majola faces charges of murder and premeditated murder following the fatal shooting of Stock on December 16 in Johannesburg. The bail hearing was expected to be heard earlier, but the state asked for a postponement.
Defence Says State Case is Thin
Majola’s lawyer, Dumisani Mabunda, has argued that his client stands a good chance of being granted bail. Mabunda told reporters Majola was not arrested at the crime scene, was not arrested on the day of the incident and nothing illegal was found in his possession at the time of his arrest.
Mabunda said there is “nothing” linking Majola to the murder, other than a statement by a former co-accused whose charges were later withdrawn. He argued the state lacks a prima facie case and that there are exceptional circumstances that support bail, potentially with conditions if the court agrees.
Court Asked About Accused’s Health in Custody
During proceedings, the magistrate questioned Majola about his well-being while in custody and whether he had received medical treatment at the Johannesburg prison. Majola told the court he had been attended to and saw a doctor on Monday. He has previously claimed he was injured and requested medical attention.
