Armed Robbery Targets Donkie Booysen House in Bellville South
The robbery at the Donkie Booysen house took place shortly after 11:00 on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, at the property in Glenhaven, Bellville South. A group of unidentified males gained entry after the gate opened and accessed the house through a sliding door.
According to initial reports, six or seven men attacked the domestic helper and posed as police officers. They searched the premises, apparently looking for cash or a safe. It remains unclear whether anything was stolen.
Booysen himself was not at home. His son, Joel Booysen, confirmed the incident to reporters. Bellville South police registered a house robbery case and responded to the scene shortly afterwards.
Booysen Appears in Ongoing High-Profile Murder Trial
At the time of the robbery, Booysen stood in the dock of the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town. He faces charges linked to the 2017 murder of international “steroid king” Brian Wainstein, who was shot dead in his Constantia home.
The trial also involves multiple charges under the Prevention of Organised Crime Act, including conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, money laundering and corruption. Booysen and his co-accused have pleaded not guilty. Several co-accused, including Mark Lifman and Andre Naude, were killed in separate incidents while the case continued.
The court proceedings form part of a long-running case that dates back nearly a decade and has drawn significant public attention.
Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that Bellville South SAPS opened a house robbery case.
“According to reports, the female worker in the house was tied up. No injuries reported. The attackers were unidentified males,”
van Wyk said.
“The homeowner was not present at the house at the time of the incident. The investigation continues regarding items that were stolen. No arrest has been made yet."
