Jetour’s F700 plug-in hybrid double-cab bakkie is officially set for a South African launch in 2027.

The production-ready model has moved from a bold Beijing Auto China concept into its final series-production form.

Known as the Zongheng F700 in China, the bakkie is expected to enter one of South Africa’s most competitive vehicle segments.

Double-cab bakkies remain popular with local families, business owners and outdoor drivers.

The F700 will arrive as Chinese brands continue to push strongly into South Africa’s SUV and bakkie markets.

Massive hybrid power

The F700 uses Chery’s Kunpeng Super Hybrid CDM-0 powertrain.

The plug-in hybrid system combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with electric motors.

The petrol engine produces 155kW and 340Nm on its own.

Together, the hybrid system delivers a claimed 665kW and 1 135Nm of torque.

That makes the F700 one of the most powerful bakkies expected for the local market.

Fast-charging battery

The F700’s plug-in hybrid system uses an 800V architecture.

It features a CATL-supplied 4C double-layer Shenxing battery pack with a capacity of about 31.3kWh.

Jetour has not yet confirmed the bakkie’s electric-only driving range.

However, the battery can reportedly recharge from 20% to 80% in about 10 minutes.

That could make the F700 appealing to buyers looking for strong performance with lower daily fuel use.

Big body and bold cabin

The F700 is built on a ladder-frame chassis.

It uses front double wishbone independent suspension.

The bakkie measures 5 494mm in length, 2 050mm in width and 1 985mm in height.

Practical exterior features include heavy-duty mechanical door handles and rear bumper-integrated steps for the load bin.

Inside, the F700 gets a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

It also features a continuous 35.4-inch sky screen display.

The F700 is expected to arrive in South Africa in 2027.
