Table Mountain trail users have been warned to take extra precautions after a second reported stabbing near Deer Park in less than a week.

The latest incident reportedly happened near the Platteklip Wash Houses on the lower slopes of the mountain. The area is a popular access point used by hikers, runners and mountain bikers.

According to community safety group Take Back Our Mountains, a man was allegedly mugged and stabbed in the area. Details about his condition and the exact time of the incident were not provided.

Safety Concerns Grow After Attacks

The incident marks the second reported stabbing near the same location within days.

The two attacks have raised fresh concerns about the safety of people using quieter trails and access routes on Table Mountain.

Deer Park and the surrounding lower slopes attract regular visitors looking to hike, exercise or cycle close to the Cape Town city centre.

However, trail users have now been encouraged to remain aware of their surroundings throughout their visit, particularly when travelling through isolated sections of the mountain.

The reported attacks do not mean people should stop enjoying Table Mountain. However, they highlight the need to properly plan outdoor trips and prioritise personal safety.
