Police are investigating a fatal shooting after a man was gunned down at a café in Marine Circle, Table View, on Monday afternoon.

The victim, believed to be 33 years old, was shot multiple times shortly before 2pm in an incident that unfolded in full view of patrons and staff.

Western Cape police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk said officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of gunfire and found the man lying face down with several gunshot wounds.

Medical personnel declared him dead at the scene.

Authorities have not yet confirmed a motive, but early indications suggest the shooting may have been directed at a specific individual rather than a random attack.

In a statement released after the incident, Marine Circle precinct management described the shooting as isolated and said no customers, employees or bystanders were harmed.

The precinct further assured residents and visitors that there was no immediate threat to surrounding businesses or the public, with operations in the area continuing as normal following the incident.

The shooting drew a response from SAPS, emergency medical services and Core Tactical Armed Response.

No arrests have been made and detectives are continuing their investigation.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact Detective Captain Jood Tieties on 079 894 1257, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or submit anonymous tip-offs through the MySAPS mobile application.
