British YouTuber and musician Yung Filly has appeared in the District Court of Western Australia as his trial on sexual assault and assault charges begins.

The entertainer, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, has pleaded not guilty to all 10 charges. The allegations relate to an encounter with a woman who was 20 at the time, following a performance in Perth in September 2024.

Prosecutors Outline Alleged Hotel Assault

The court heard that Barrientos met the woman after she attended his performance at a venue in Perth’s northern suburbs. Prosecutor Danielle Clarke said the woman later travelled with Barrientos and members of his entourage to the InterContinental Hotel.

According to the prosecution, Barrientos and the woman initially engaged in consensual sexual activity. However, Clarke alleged that he later became violent by biting and slapping her, after which she withdrew her consent.

“What should have been an exciting night out … was fun until it wasn’t,” Clarke told the court during her opening address.

Prosecutors allege that the woman expressed pain and asked Barrientos to be gentler. They say she later feared for her safety and complied with his demands because she did not know how to leave the situation.

The court also heard allegations that she suffered bruising to her face and neck, as well as bite injuries. These claims form part of the prosecution’s case and have not been proven.

Ten Charges Before Perth Court

Barrientos faces six counts of sexually penetrating the woman without consent. He also faces three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one charge of impeding her breathing by applying pressure to her neck.

Australian authorities initially charged him in October 2024 after police arrested him in Brisbane and returned him to Western Australia. Earlier bail conditions required him to remain in the state, surrender his passport, report to police and avoid contacting the complainant.

A judge later amended the conditions and allowed Barrientos to travel temporarily to the United Kingdom before his trial. ABC News reported that the arrangement included financial guarantees and required location services to remain active on his electronic devices.

Barrientos Denies all Allegations

Barrientos has pleaded not guilty to every charge in the Yung Filly rape trial. The reports available at the time of publication did not contain the defence’s complete opening argument.

The court will continue hearing testimony and evidence before reaching a verdict. Until then, Barrientos remains presumed innocent, and the allegations must be tested through the trial process.
